Oakdale Cheese is the fruition of four generations of cheesemaking. Originally from the Netherlands, founders Walter and Lenneke found themselves missing the family’s farmhouse gouda after arriving in California. So naturally, they decided to make their own. They added a small cheesemaking vat to their milk barn in Central California and the rest, as they say, was history. The day-to-day cheesemaking operations are now run by their son Jan (John) and his wife Jessica. While the heart of the business remains gouda (so many flavors to be consumed!), they’ve also expanded the line to include cheddars, alpine-styles and yogurts. We happily stock their Aged Gouda, Goat Gouda and Golden Swiss – the rest of their line up is available via preorder.
